When it comes to your wedding day, one thing I commonly see and hear from brides is a worry about their SKIN! Some brides want more foundation coverage on their wedding day. You may come across have a small blemish before your big day and can’t help but think how much you want this to be covered or removed so it doesn’t “ruin” your wedding photos! I use a specific rule in photography that states if a cut, blemish, dot or any “distraction” is noticeable in an image that will heal on the body within two weeks, I will remove it. If these things are permanent like freckles, scars, stretch marks, these may not be removed by smoothed over.
Starting with a nice HEALTHY BASE will not only enhance the way your makeup is applied for your wedding day but will also R A D I A T E your skin which will in turn, will present brighter and smoother throughout your photos.

“Some people panic when it comes to their skin… especially if they’re planing their wedding! Everyone wants their skin to look the absolute best it can, which is easier than you think!
As long as you follow instructions and take my advice, I can almost guarantee you’ll have beautiful, glowing skin for your special day!
1. Facials
The best place to start is to get a facial! An esthetician will closely analyze your skin and provide a specific treatment and product recommendations based on her findings. A lot of people ‘self diagnose’ their skin type which can lead to disaster! This is often why people have unexplained dryness, oiliness, redness, and the biggest culprit – breakouts.
If you are planning your wedding, I would start the facial process months before your big day!
Leading up to your wedding or special event, I would suggest getting a facial once a month to make sure your skin is on the right track! This also makes sure that your skin will not have a reaction or breakout the week of your wedding. Everyone’s skin is unique and reacts differently which means it could take up to a few weeks for your skin to adjust to new products.
2. Professional Products
There are many, many products on the market, but they shouldn’t all be treated equal! Over to counter products are the low men on the totem poll.
These are the skin care products found at Walmart, target, rite-aid, etc. As convincing as their advertisements are, a lot of the information is false (there is a reason they’re there). Their ingredients are designed to address only the top layer of skin on your face. The active ingredients have very very low percentages and the rest of the product contains various harsh chemicals and “filler” ingredients (and not the good type of filler)!
Professional products, which are ones found in salons and spas, are the ones you want to invest in. They are a little bit more expensive but extremely worth it in the long run. The active ingredients are much stronger than OTC, which allows them to treat deeper layers of skin which leads to better, safer, faster results.
3. Consistency is Key!
You’ll definitely want to have a daily skin care regimen crafted to your unique skin type. For daytime I would at least use a daily cleanser, eye cream, moisturizer and sunscreen! (Some brands, such as Image Skincare, offer moisturizers combined with sunscreen).
Nighttime I would suggest a cleanser, serum, eye cream, and either a mask or night cream. When we are sleeping at night is when your skin does the most of its repairing and restoring, which is why it’s important to give it a nice big boost with product!
4. Exfoliate
It is extremely important to exfoliate. This gets rid of any build up on the skin and allows product to penetrate better. Using an exfoliant once a week is all you need, using it more frequently can cause irritation or inflammation leading to negative results.
5. Small Changes, Big Results
A few other important factors to keep in mind are: staying hydrated, water is one of the most important things for your skin. A nutritious diet sends healthy nutrients to your skin. Smoking leads to sagging, fine lines, and wrinkles. Sunscreen is the best anti-age product on the market, beings that the sun is the absolute worst thing for your skin.
